2.
Context
Awareness plays
a key role in our approach to improving access to
health-care. Health awareness empower communities,
medical professionals, patients with appropriate tools,
information and skills so that they can make
high-quality, informed decisions on prevention,
diagnosis, treatment, care and support. Health campaigns
for prevention, early diagnosis and awareness specially
in women related issues are conducted regularly in
colleges. Moreover, Health awareness programmes
targeting student realm is also conducted, wherein
efforts are made to raise awareness about the mental
health continuum, reduce stigma associated with mental
illness, depression and aid through personal counseling.
We have a Sehat
Kendra which was established last year, as a pilot
project of State Health Society, Bihar and Bihar State
AIDS Control Society, under Department of Health, Govt.
of Bihar, efforts are on in expansion of this services.
Until now, we have been utilizing the space and facility
for creating awareness through lectures, seminars and
competitions, on health issues, particularly related to
women and and weaker sections of the society. This
includes, Family planning, Diseases of women, HIV/AIDS,
sexual wellness, STDs, TB, blood donation etc.
During Corona,
the Kendra assisted in carrying out vaccination in the
society at the college premises.
Now the space
and facility is also carrying out activities with
support from local doctors. We have started a clinic
facility for providing free consultation. Six different
specialist doctors provide weekly consultations on
designated days.
Healthy body and
mind can achieve anything.
This initiative
should go a long way in obtaining the vision and
achieving the motto of the college.
